  • Study Island is web-based instruction, practice, assessment and reporting.

Study Island Basics

To create a new Study Island class for the 12-13 school year:

    • Log in with your teacher account
  • Click on Class Manager
  • Click the Add New Class button
  • Enter the title for your new class in the box at the top
  • Click the + button for the grade level you teach
  • Click to check the box next to the name of each student you want to add
  • Click Save at the bottom of the page
  • Once you add practice assignments, you will need to activate the class page for your students to be able to view it
NEW: When you activate your class, you will also be prompted to make your class page the default for students. Change this to Yes so that your class assignments is the opening page for your students.
NEW:Instruct your students to uncheck the Lock box under the Username and Login fields when they login

      • Note: If you transferred to a new building, your Study Island teacher login will change. Enter a Tech Helpdesk ticket to request your new Study Island login.

To view and/or print your class roster with usernames and passwords:
    • Click on Class Manager
    • Click the View Class Roster button

Study Island Customization

If you have stuggling readers who need additional help and support in using Study Island, you can request the "Text-to-Speech" option for these students. On practice and assessment pages when the user does not have a "speaker" icon to listen to a question or information on the page, they can use the mouse to select the text they wish to have read aloud, then click on the play icon which is located at the top of the Study Island page. Please enter "Text-to-Speech" requests in the Tech Helpdesk. Include your name and building, the name(s) of the student(s), and grade level.
